What I watched during 2024
-- 2024 --
Bubble: A boy who messes up in gravity-defying parkour meets a mysterious girl.
It's alright. The parkour action is the best part.
It's alright. The parkour action is the best part.
Oshi No Ko: The doctor that delivers an idol's twin babies is killed by a stalker.
He then finds himself resurrected as her son. His path to stardom begins.
This is an amazing series, setting a new standard. A must watch.
Attack on Titan: The Final Season: The conflict ramps up as titans are used in warfare.
Everything comes to a climax in this final season.
This is essential watching if you're a fan of AoT.
Everything comes to a climax in this final season.
This is essential watching if you're a fan of AoT.
Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc: Tanjiro and Nezuko enter the eponymous village.
They are there for a sword but find upper rank demons.
Still a great show if fat action and thin plot are your thing.
Isekai Quartet: Crossover with KonoSuba, Re:Zero, Overlord, and Tanya the Evil.
Each of their main cast are in school and learn various things.
It's pretty good and fun to see the character interactions.
Spice and Wolf: A forgotten wolf goddess comes across a merchant who recruits her.
They bicker but they slowly bond as they travel and do business deals.
This is a good one. This was my rewatch before the remake airs in April 2024.
SPY x FAMILY Season 2: More adventures of the family with an assassin, spy, and telepath.
There are some good story arcs like the cruise ship.
This is a good one, maybe even better than season 1.
The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Love You: A teen guy has to romance 100 girls or they die.
This is hilarious and really puts the 'com' in romcom.
This is a great harem romcom. Come on season 2!
Goblin Slayer II: Season 2 of the Goblin Slayer's quest to slay goblins.
There is a noob wizard, an elf wedding, and more goblins raping women.
This is some good stuff. Can feel a little slow at times.
My Senpai is Annoying: Romcom between a short office lady and a tall salaryman.
He looks down on her, literally, but she secretly likes him.
This is a cute one. The relationship progress is slow as hell though.
Zom 100: A loser sets off on completing his bucket list during a zombie apocalypse.
He joins up with his pretty-boy friend, a gym bunny, and a big titty Aryan weeaboo.
This is a great series and a good spin on the zombie genre.
Why the Hell Are You Here, Teacher!?: A teacher and a student keep getting into lewd situations.
Over time they bond and become a secret couple.
This is a good one, especially for teacher x student enjoyers.
Summer Time Rendering: A guy returns his hometown to attend a childhood friend's funeral.
It turns out her death may have been caused by supernatural shadows.
This is like Higurashi When They Cry meets Re:Zero. It's pretty good.
Bikini Warriors: Girls in a fantasy world go on adventures but nothing ever goes right for them.
It's like Dragon Quest meets Konosuba, just with the ecchi dialed up.
This isn't bad, and with episodes only 4 minutes long each it's bite-sized fun.
Heavenly Delusion: Two teens wander post-apocalyptic Japan in search of answers.
There are monsters that come out at night, and dangerous people at day.
This is quite good and it really needs a season 2 or a cour 2.
My Clueless First Friend: A male transfer student befriends the ostracized 'creepy' girl.
His chunni nature makes him idolize her, much to her appreciation.
This is a cute one but don't hold your breath for love progress.
Hell's Paradise: Condemned criminals and their samurai handlers search for the elixir of immortality.
Their destination is a paradise island of monsters and killer plants.
This is good, with plenty of action. Come on season 2!
Chained Soldier: A man stranded in a demon city is saved by a girl with unusual powers.
He is given temporary powers at the cost of being the girl's slave.
It's a lewd series with enough action to cancel out the cringe drama.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 2: Another part of the cursed spirit hunters.
First we get a prequel part, then more Sukuna and Yuji goodness.
This is a great one, easy to see why it won so many awards.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End: A hero elf woman learns the hard way of living a long life.
She takes her friend's adopted daughter and learns about humanity.
This is a great one, not be missed. Bring some tissues.
Gushing Over Magical Girls: A girl wants to be a magical girl but is turned into a villainness.
This gets lewd fast and stays there.
It's quite good, mainly for the 'plot' and the character development.
Say "I Love You": A lonely girl with trust issues meets a guy who changes her life.
He's the popular one and she's the one being bullied. Opposites indeed attract.
This is standard shoujo fluff, which means it's good romance food for the heart.
The World's Finest Assassin: An isekai where an assassin gets reincarnated as a nobleman to kill.
He is tasked by The Goddess to kill the Hero.
This is quite a good series. Come on season 2!
O Maidens in Your Savage Season: A literature club of horny teen girls wants to learn about sex.
Each girl has their own path of sexual discovery.
This is a pretty good romance with the ecchi dialed up.
Combatants Will Be Dispatched!: A guy and an android work with evil corporation and a kingdom.
He assembles a team of weirdo girls to defeat the Demon Lord.
This is a good one, and since it's by Konosuba's author it's funny.
Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister!: A loser NEET guy is turned into a young girl by his genius sister.
He is resistant but he slowly likes it more than his old life.
This is a pretty good SoL series with lewdness but has LGBTaggotry.
Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!: A guy moves to Hokkaido and meets a local gyaru gal.
It turns out they are in the same school and they bond.
This is cute, lewd yet wholesome, and worth it for the accents.
The Eminence in Shadow: An edgy teen's isekai imaginations come true.
He is reborn as an OP MC with a harem of combat girls.
Anything he thinks of actually happens. This is some good stuff.
Classroom of the Elite - season 3: More antics of Ayanokoji's rise to the top of the school.
It's always a treat to see him outsmart and play everyone.
This is a good one but honestly I think it's the weakest season.
The Apothecary Diaries: A female potion maker is tasked by the imperial court for her services.
It's an episodic show with poisonings, political intrigue, and chibi moments.
This is a good series, full of drama and great art.
A Sign of Affection: A deaf girl meets a pretty boy that changes her life.
He's a chad with much to teach her, like confidence and love.
This is good lovey-dovey shoujo fluff, just what the doctor ordered.
Solo Leveling: Gates to dungeons open all over Korea and Hunters enter to gain loot for money.
Our weakling MC soon finds a way to level up and become OP, but it's not easy.
This is an adaptation of one of the better webtoons. Maybe mid but it's fun.
Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance: Shinji has a crisis of confidence in the Evas and himself.
This is a good adaptation of the classic series, sans Shinji.
Shangri-La Frontier: A lover of shitty games plays a good VR MMORPG with the aim to conquer it.
His experience with bad games makes him a strong player.
This is a great love letter to online games. Come on season 2!
Tsuki ga Kirei: Two teens fall in love and must deal with life and maturity.
It is anime original, thus it is a complete story.
It's pretty good but I'm not too fond of the art style. Good ending.
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic: A trio of teens get isekai'd and the MC has healing magic.
He is then trained by a mean dommy mommy.
This is a pretty good series.
86 Eighty Six: The mech war turns out to be fought with humans pilots: the secret 86 squadron.
A new commander must deal with the stress and accumulating guilt of her post.
This is like Ghost in the Shell. It's alright but only the action interests me.
Bofuri: A girl plays an MMORPG and dumps her points into defense.
This makes her half-OP and half useless: she barely takes damage but can barely deal damage.
This is a pretty good series but it's a bit too chill and low-stakes for my liking.
The Witch and the Beast: Two witch-hunters aim to slay the evil witch that grants wishes.
They are bad-ass, which they need to be to keep putting down witches.
This is a pretty good show, the kind to switch your brain off to.
Sand Land: A human and a devil search for water in a land of sand.
Their quest is to find the mythical Phantom Lake, but the king won't make it easy.
This is a pretty good adaptation of the manga from the late great Akira Toriyama.
Takunomi: Slice of life of women that gather daily to drink and banter.
It's pretty alright if you like borderline-alcoholic ladies and alcohol discussion.
ReLIFE: A loser is de-aged back into a teenager and must live his new life for a year.
All living expenses are paid; the only catch is he has to attend school and remake his life.
This is pretty alright. The ending was really good though I wish it adapted the epilogue.
Delicious in Dungeon: Adventurers traverse a dungeon and must survive by eating the monsters inside.
It's like D&D mixed with Food Wars. A shame the nutritional info isn't shown.
This is a great show. Season 2 releasing eventually!
Ninja Kamui: An ex-ninja returns to Japan to get revenge against those who slayed his family.
The action scenes are frantic and amazing, and even the characters are decent.
This is a series to switch your brain off to... until the mech suits show up.
Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again: An old couple wake up back in their 20s.
They do cute lovey dovey stuff with an elderly mindset.
This is so wholesome. The ending will make you cry.
So I'm a Spider, So What?: A classroom of teens gets isekai'd and the MC becomes a spider.
She slowly gains skills in this fantasy MMO-like world.
This is a very good series. You too will find spiders kawaii.
The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious: A rich boy's family recently hires a suspicious maid.
It turns out his feelings of her is his infatuation.
This is a pretty cute comedy slice of life with romance.
Talentless Nana: A school for teens with Talents (powers) is infiltrated by the assassin Nana.
It turns out the students will cause future mass bloodshed and ruination.
It's like My Hero Academia mixed with Hitman. This is quite a good series
How Clumsy You Are, Miss Ueno: A genius girl tries to use her inventions to win over a boy.
This is pretty good as a comedy but is pretty shit as a romance.
The Devil is a Part-Timer!: The Devil and his subordinate escape the Hero to modern day Tokyo.
He gets a fast food job and lays low but the Hero finds him.
This is pretty good stuff but a bit slow and lacking of action.
Golden Time: A guy gets amnesia, moves to Tokyo and enters law school for a fresh start.
It is there he makes new friends, a love interest, and even an old flame from his past.
This is quite good. It's a roller-coaster ride of emotions but it has bullshit drama.
Mashle: A teen with melee strength but no talent for magic enters a magic academy.
He has to become the top student to end the relentless persecution and get peace.
This is like One Punch Man meets Harry Potter. It's pretty good but it gets repetitive.
KonoSuba season 3: The continued adventures of an isekai'd perv and the three useless girls.
There are many hilarious plotlines here, with sexy results.
This is good, once again proving that parodies are often better.
An Archdemon's Dilemma: A sorcerer purchases a slave elf to be his wife and they bond.
She assumes he will use her as a sacrifice but he's a softie in love.
This is very cute stuff. It's nice to have some action instead of SoL.
Sasaki and Peeps: A salaryman buys a god-turned-bird that grants him isekai powers.
He uses his acumen to do business deals to gain money but it attracts trouble.
It's pretty alright but it does have its dull moments.
I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince: A commoner is reborn as a powerful shota prince.
He's an OP MC being lusted at by adult women.
This is pretty good and kicks more ass than you might think.
I''s Pure: A guy has a crush on a popular girl and by chance they get near each other.
It's pretty alright if a bit cringe. The male MC is such a cowardly dumbass.
A Condition Called Love: A teen girl cheers up a heartbroken guy and he soon confesses to her.
She's a plain girl and he's a tall handsome stud. Yep, it's shoujo fluff.
The romance comes fast in this one; a nice change of pace.
Undead Unluck: A very unlucky girl meets an immortal guy who wants to die a cool death.
Soon they are recruited to take down other 'negators' of natural law.
This is a great watch if you want dumb fun.
Mushoku Tensei season 2 cour 2: The continued adventures of Rudeus at the magic academy.
Big events happen that really shake things up.
Keijo: Sport series where girls must use their tits and asses to knock other girls off the platforms.
Our MC vows to be a champion at the sport (which should exist IRL).
This is a good series but you definitely don't want to get caught watching it.
The Most Heretical Last Boss Queen: A girl is isekai'd as the villainess of an otome game.
She aims to prevent her death with her knowledge of the plot.
This is alright but I wish there was more romance to it.
Wind Breaker: A tough teen guy transfers to a delinquent school and aims to be at the top.
It turns out the school's hoodlums protect the neighbourhood and he joins the fun.
This is a pretty good series for those who desire mindless beatings.
Dark Gathering: A cursed college guy that attracts spirits tutors a young girl that can see them.
She vows to catch the spirit that took her parents' lives. She's also cute.
This is a pretty good horror series.
Violet Evergarden: A woman takes a job of writing down people's words.
The war has taken her arms and her lover, so she grasps for some meaning of life.
This is a good sad one. Be sure to watch the OVA and movies too.
Le Portrait de Petit Cossette: A guy comes across an antique glass possessed by a murdered girl.
He falls for her and she uses that to torture him.
This is alright but it's got the 2000's weird vibe that can be off-putting.
My Girlfriend is Shobitch: A guy dates a girl and she wants to make him happy with sexual things.
This starts off strong but it gets a bit much with the repetitive jokes.
The characters are also flat. This is more 'com' than 'rom'. It's fine.
Weather Report Girl: A weather girl does some fan-service to boost ratings.
She gets into some spats to keep her position, from druggings to blackmail.
This goes from ecchi to borderline hentai at points. It's alright.
Squid Game: A deadly game show in which hundreds of destitute people compete for riches.
They are pushed to their limits, physically and mentally, and you cannot trust anyone.
This is a great show, one I put off watching for too long. Mid ending though.
Kaiju No.8: A guy who deals with kaiju gains the ability to transform into one.
He goes from the cleanup crew to the defense force.
This is like Parasyte meets Attack on Titan. It's pretty damn good.
Spy × Family Code: White: Loid is in danger of being reassigned if he doesn't make progress.
He helps Anya try and win a stella star but it gets very dangerous.
This is a great movie for fans of the show. Come on season 3!
Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc: Tanjiro and the Hashira train hard for the final battle.
Don't assume this is filler, character development takes place.
It's good if you're a fan but it won't win over non-fans.
A Place Further Than The Universe: Four teenage girls go on a voyage to Antarctica.
They're hunting for the missing mother of one of the girls.
It's pretty good for cute girls doing cute things.
Plus Size Elf: A massage therapist tries to help an elf woman and other mythology girls lose weight.
The tasteful thiccness and curve appeal is very much appreciated.
This is pretty good. A shame it's low budget and short-form, it needs more love.
My Deer Friend Nokotan: A deer-like transfer student learns that the MC used to be a delinquent.
This is like Nichijou or Kill Me Baby: funny but can try too hard at times.
This is the best shitpost series since those. It's a good one.
Alice in Borderland: People are transported to a world where they must beat death games.
These death games can range from athletic to problem solving to a mix.
This is good stuff. Are they really making a season 3? Interesting...
Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers: A loser gets isekai'd and powers up.
He doesn't realise he's OP at first.
This is a good fun one.
Ragna Crimson: A cursed dragon hunter wants to slay all the dragons.
He gains immense power at a steep cost. Lots of twists and turns in this one.
This is a good one for fans of action and violence.
Uramichi Oniisan: A child entertainer has to hide his bitterness of how his life turned out.
It has its funny moments but it gets rather repetitive.
This series is alright, one to watch as you multitask with other stuff.
Parasyte The Grey: Parasite creatures infect humans and make him cannibalistic.
The parasites form a group to harvest humans as food but they are being hunted.
This is a spinoff of the manga. It's alright but it's short with shit CGI.
GO! GO! Loser Ranger!: A jobber baddie vows to put an end to losing to the heroes in staged battles.
He infiltrates the heroes' recruiting program and learns it won't be easy.
This is a good parody of the sentai genre from the villain's perspective.
The 8 Show: Eight participants must live together and the game ends when someone dies.
Prices are 100x than usual and there more inequality between contestants.
This is like Squid Game meets Big Brother. It's pretty good, and funny too.
The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes: A guy & girl enter a desire-granting tunnel with a cost.
It turns out the tunnel does more than they believed.
This is a pretty good movie.
Ghost Stories: Two siblings are enrolled into a haunted school and they aim to exorcise the ghosts.
Things go awry and the other kids helping aren't much help.
The English dub is hilarious so go for that. Otherwise, it's meh and mid.
My Hero Academia: A kid with no powers (at first) gets into an academy that trains future heroes.
There is an eclectic cast of weirdos with weird abilities.
Some say it's mid shounen slop, but it's entertaining nonetheless.
Pop Team Epic: Comedy series of skits and vignettes starring two weird teen girls.
This is a bonkers brainrot show to laugh at as your brain shuts down.
The Duke of Death and His Maid: A duke has the curse of death but he and his maid love each other.
She teases him knowing he can't touch her.
This is cute good stuff but the smooth animation can be jarring.
The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess: A lazy vampire girl is forced to lead the army.
She has to hide that she is a weak pacifist crybaby.
This is a pretty good show though rather one-note.
Pyramid Game: A teen girl aims to get out of the bottom rank of the Pyramid Game.
Those in rank F are bullied by everyone else.
She must gather intel and outwit the others in order to survive. It's pretty good.
Helck: A human wishes to become the new Demon Lord and is suspected of ulterior motives.
It turns out he does have an ulterior motive but is too OP to stop.
This is a good one. With a confident MC and an elf girl you can't go wrong.
When Marnie Was There: A girl meets a mysterious girl in a mysterious house in a small town.
It turns out this mysterious girl may be more than an imagination.
This is a great movie, a certified Ghibli banger.
Isekai Yururi Kikou: A guy is accidentally killed by a god and gets isekai'd as an apology.
He tags along with some twin kids who turn out to be OP.
This is cute and chill, enjoyed as a palette cleanser between serious stuff.
James May: Our Man in Japan: James May travels Japan, engaging with the culture.
This is fascinating stuff; actual culture other than weeb otaku shit!
My Instant Death Ability is Overpowered: A class of teens is isekai'd and the MC has Instant Death.
The students have a month to become a sage.
This is enjoyable if you switch your brain off.
Ride Your Wave: A surfer girl bonds with a firefighter dude.
He saves her life and she teaches him to surf... and then it happens.
She can summon his ghost in water. This is a fine film to indulge in. Bring tissues.
All of Us Are Dead: A group of students must team up to survive a zombie apocalypse.
As per the norm there are good people eaten and dickheads who gain immunity.
This is like great for fans of zombies; good even if you're not a fan of them.
Uzumaki: A teen girl realises her small town is obsessed with spirals.
It's one horrifying thing after another as spirals consume the town.
This would be pretty good if the production quality didn't go to shit.
Terminator Zero: A cyborg is sent back in time to protect a scientist who is against Skynet.
I don't know if it is canon or not, not like it actually matters.
This is one of the better Netflix anime shows. It's pretty alright.
Bye Bye, Earth: The only human in a world of anthros goes on a journey to find her roots.
She is strong but she is cursed.
This is an alright show. Good worldbuilding and lore but it does get dull.
South Park: The End of Obesity: Cartman wants access to a weight-loss drug but is denied it.
The boys instead make their own drug but things go awry.
This is another great special.
Bro Town: The life and times of five teen boys in Auckland, NZ.
This is like our version of The Simpsons, with the edge of Family Guy.
This is my third rewatch of the classic kiwi series. Still good, ow.
VTuber Legend: An unpopular Vtuber goes viral when she accidentally livestreams herself drunk.
Her antics cause her to blow up and go viral.
This is hilarious but I wish there was no censorship or yuri..
Dead Mount Death Play: A necromancer is isekai'd to our world and only wants peace.
Unfortunately for him he was transported into the body of a hunted boy.
This is a good series. Lots of characters and intertwining plot-lines.
The Dangers in my Heart: A murderous manlet goes from hating a girl to loving her
Both are cringey in their own cute way.
Yep, one of those opposites-attract romcoms, and this is great.
Look Back: Two schoolgirls bond over making manga.
Jealousy turns to passion but their paths eventually diverge.
It's quite a good movie and a bit short. Bring some tissues.
Men in Kilts: A Roadtrip with Sam and Graham: Two Scotsmen explore their native land.
Season 2 explores NZ and its Scottish roots.
This is good stuff apart from all the seafood.
The Glory: A woman takes on her old school bully by becoming her daughter's homeroom teacher.
She seeks revenge on all her bullies, so she does research on them (which can be boring).
There's a lot of messed up scenes that can be hard to watch. I like it.
South Park - season 26: I completely forgot about South Park after the COVID special.
This is some good stuff, as usual of the long-running series.
Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon: A kid living near the Demon Lord moves to the starter town.
He desires to become a soldier. Yep, a naive OP MC.
This is pretty good. It's funny and fun, not mid serious.
Why Does Nobody Remember Me in This World?: A guy enters a world where humans lost the war.
He has to become the hero of the humans.
This is pretty good but the MC is annoying.
One Piece (Live Action): A teenage boy with a stretchy body wants to be king of the pirates.
He over time gathers a crew of badasses and meets weirdos along the way.
This is a great show and a pretty good adaptation.
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian: A girl speaks in Russian but her classmate knows it.
There's also her little sister and his brocon sis.
This is pretty good but the story can be a slog..
Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero: The demon lord is reborn and learns the hero is a loser.
The demon lord takes pity and helps get his shit together.
This is hilarious but needs more action.
Wistoria: Wand and Sword: A teen skilled with swords is useless at magic.
He vows to become of the top-ranked mages in the world.
Think of Mashle but with swords instead of melee. It's pretty good.
Viral Hit: A guy accidentally streams himself fighting and decides to make a career out of it.
He needs the money but has to work with his bully in making the viral content.
This is alright but the beta male MC and the drama make it cringe at times.
Weak Hero Class 1: A nerd that can fight teams up with the tough guy and a bullied victim.
They band together to take on the bullies and the escalating violence.
If you like bully-revenge stories, check this out. It's quite good.
Cyber City Oedo 808: Three convicts are recruited by the police to take down criminals.
Each criminal taken down reduces their live sentence duration.
This is a gritty sci-fi OVA full of violence and profanity. I like it.
Liar Game: A college girl teams up with a con artist to make money in a competition.
The aim of the games are to deceive and swindle the money out of your opponent's hands.
This seems to be more comedic in nature than the manga. I like it.
Bartender: Glass of God: A struggling bar wants a new bartender who has the skills.
He listens to customer's troubles and deduces their tastes Sherlock style.
This is like Food Wars but for alcohol. It's pretty alright but got boring.
Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!: A girl teams up with 'loser girls' that can't get boyfriends.
Our male MC finds himself caught up in their love drama.
This is good stuff but, as they are betas, it can be annoying.
The Unwanted Undead Adventurer: A lowly adventurer is killed and made undead.
The more monsters he slays the more he evolves.
This is alright. Shit CGI but it's funny at times.
James May: Oh Cook!: James May is terrible at cooking but aims to improve his skills.
The results are mixed, from delicious to vile, but it's always funny.
This is a good one and quite inspirational; if he can do it, so can you.
You're Under Arrest!: Two rookie cops that are polar opposites team up.
They aim to defend Tokyo from miscreants.
There's something magical about 90's anime. I like this quite a bit.
Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut: The Soviet Union sends a vampire girl into space.
She is assisted by her rookie cadet handler.
This is alright but it's a bit slow going for me.
Baki: Teen strongman Baki is tasked to take down five escaped deathrow convicts.
The convicts gather in Tokyo to take part in an underground martial arts tournament.
This is a great show for those who want action and none of that pesky plot.
Blue Period: A guy wants to become a great painter and make it into Tokyo University of the Arts.
His listless life is inflammed by passion for art. It's also kinda funny.
This is alright but overrated thanks to neckbeards and 2deep4u pseudo-intellectuals.
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai: A guy hooks up with a girl that's invisible to others.
She and other girls have 'Adolescence Syndrome'.
This is pretty good stuff. Watch the films too.
No Longer Allowed in Another World: A depressed guy is isekai'd but wants to die.
He is told he'll be a hero but he's a pathetic loser.
This is a pretty good parody isekai, and funny too.
Hotel Hell: Gordon Ramsay experiences the worst hotels in the USA.
His aim is to turn the hotel into a success but it isn't easy.
This is quite good though the latter-half of episodes can get dull.
